David Stambaugh
David Stambaugh played Toby Whitewood in all three of the Bad News Bears movies, and before that he spent almost a decade as Hank Latimer on the CBS soap opera Love of Life. TV movie roles include Home to Stay with Henry Fonda, Breaking Up with Lee Remick, Thanksgiving Treasure with Jason Robards, and Family Reunion with Bette Davis. His TV commercials include Bazooka Bubble Gum, Kool Aid, and Crest Toothpaste.
After college Dave went on to graduate school, earning two masters degrees, to pursue a career in pastoral ministry and spiritual care. He has worked at churches in NJ, CT, and CA (and spent 7 years at Hollywood United Methodist Church right around the corner from the festival). In addition to parish ministry, he also works part time as an interfaith chaplain for a hospital, a hospice organization, and his local fire department.
He is a drummer, a pickleball player, and cyclist. In 2014 he was a Top 50 Fundraiser, raising over $20,000 for the 545-mile Aids Lifecycle Ride from SF to LA.
Dave is also a movie fan. This picture was taken on a recent bucket list road trip to Woodstock, Illinois – the filming location for Groundhog Day.
