Maxwell Caulfield

Maxwell Caulfield was born in the Midlands of England and arrived as an 18-year-old in New York City in the late 70’s. The following year he won a prestigious Theatre World award for the British import “Class Enemy”. His next stroke of good fortune and that which shaped the course of his life was being cast opposite Juliet Mills in the Tony winning production of “The Elephant Man”. They are now recognized as having one of the most enduring marriages in Hollywood.

Maxwell has played a host of L.A. stages including The Ahmanson, The Mark Taper Forum, The Geffen and The Getty Villa. He has played Off Broadway extensively most recently in Martin McDonagh’s “Hangmen” at the Atlantic and The Great White Way on two occasions in “An Inspector Calls” and as ‘Billy Flynn’ in “Chicago”.

His big screen debut in “Grease 2” may not have rivaled the smash hit original but has since become a true cult classic with succeeding generations. As has Maxwell’s turn as flamboyant fading pop star ‘Rex Manning’ in “Empire Records”. Other film credits are many and varied including “The Boys Next Door” with Charlie Sheen, TNT’s Civil War epic “Gettysburg” and “The Real Blonde” for auteur Tom DiCillo.

Unquestionably the purple patch of his days on network television was as the dark horse son of Charlton Heston in ABC’s “The Colbys of California” back in the mid 80’s. Since that time he has made quite a few ‘guest shots’ but ‘series regular’ has proved elusive. His most recent streamed tv work has seen him play Bob Guccione on Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy” and the Governor of Texas in “Landman” on Paramount+

Plans are afoot for him to take his one man play “PILATE: the Lost Gospel” to the renowned Edinburgh Festival this coming summer.
