Jan Handzlik

Jan Handzlik is an accomplished investigations and trial lawyer with a national and international practice. As a child actor, he originated the role of young Patrick Dennis in the Broadway and screen productions of Auntie Mame. Jan played opposite Rosalind Russell, who starred as his free-spirited aunt, on Broadway for two years. After Greer Garson took over the title role, he continued as Patrick until leaving to make the movie of Auntie Mame with Ms. Russell. Jan subsequently appeared as Tommy in a notable episode of The Twilight Zone, “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.”

Jan ultimately left acting for a legal career. After graduating from USC and the UCLA School of Law and clerking for a federal judge, he served in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. In private practice, Jan has specialized in defending clients in white-collar criminal investigations and prosecutions. He has handled well over one hundred jury trials. Jan served as Chair of the American Bar Association’s National White-Collar Crime Committee and Co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s Business Crime Committee. He is recognized in all thirty-two editions, through 2026, of Best Lawyers in America and was named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the state’s leading legal publication. Jan also received a California Attorney of the Year award from California Lawyer Magazine. His pro bono activities include service as Deputy General Counsel to Commissions investigating the operations of the Los Angeles Police Department, and on the Boards of the Inner City Law Center and Friends of Child Advocates.
