Alan K. Rode

Alan K. Rode (pronounced “Roe-dee”) is the author of Michael Curtiz A Life in Film and Charles McGraw Film Noir Tough Guy and a Reel West monograph of the noir Western Blood on the Moon. He has recorded over 50 commentaries for classic films released to home video and produced, scripted and appeared in numerous cinema related documentaries. Alan is a former TCM Spotlight Guest and appears in interstitial segments on the network.  A charter director and treasurer of the Film Noir Foundation www.filmnoirfoundation.org, he spearheaded the restoration of 16 “lost” noir feature films and the preservation of many others. Alan has been the producer-host of the annual Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival in Palm Springs, California for two decades and co-hosts the NOIR CITY film festivals in Hollywood and Chicago. He is currently the series editor of the forthcoming Reel Noir cinema books from the University of New Mexico Press.
