Jeremy Arnold

Jeremy Arnold has written three books in the TCM/Running Press series: Christmas in the Movies, The Essentials, and The Essentials Vol. 2. He also wrote Lawrence of Arabia: The 50th Anniversary, published as a supplement to Sony’s deluxe Blu-ray release; two essays in The Call of the Heart: John M. Stahl and Hollywood Melodrama; contributions to Jeanine Basinger’s The World War II Combat Film: Anatomy of a Genre; a profile of B director Nick Grinde for The Lady With the Torch: Columbia Pictures 1929-1959; numerous essays for home entertainment releases and film festivals; and some eight hundred programming articles for the TCM website dating back to 2003. Jeremy’s writing has also appeared in Noir City Magazine, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Moviemaker, Premiere, and DGA Magazine

His commentating includes several guest appearances on TCM with Ben Mankiewicz and on CNN with Jake Tapper; speaking engagements at film festivals, museums, and repertory screenings across the country; and some two dozen Blu-ray audio commentary tracks, the latest of which is for the forthcoming release of Night World (1932). In recent years Jeremy has developed a specialty in B movies, or second features, of the 1930s and 1940s. In 2023, he programmed and guest-hosted, with Ben Mankiewicz, a 20-film TCM spotlight on Bs, and he regularly presents 35mm screenings of B rarities and other films at the American Cinematheque, TCMFF, Cinecon, Old Town Music Hall, and other venues.

A Washington, D.C., native, Jeremy resides in Los Angeles. His favorite movie is I Know Where I’m Going
