Chris Lewis
When Chris Lewis was born into the world of show business, his father, Jerry Lewis, was the number one box office star in the world and the National Chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Jerry helped create MDA in 1950 and raised over Two Billion Dollars for research and family services with his MDA Telethons over 60 years.
Chris always wanted to be like his dad, but not as a comedian. He became involved in the fundraising effort early in life and worked on the Telethons with his dad for thirty-nine years.
Since 2000, Chris has been involved in the delivery of more than 900,000 wheelchairs to people in 150 countries.
As president and CEO of the American Wheelchair Mission, Chris and his family have delivered brand-new wheelchairs to the poorest of the poor worldwide and Veterans throughout the United States.
Chris wrote a book entitled “Jerry Lewis on Being a Person” to showcase his dad’s love of humanity, incredible talent, global successes, groundbreaking innovations, and a legacy of philanthropy that continues to improve our world today and into the future.
In the Foreword to Chris’s book, Jerry says about his son, “I consider him my legacy, and that makes me feel good.”
