Barry Bostwick
From his portrayal of the quintessential all-American Brad Majors in THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW to the hilarious Mayor Randall Winston on the Michael J. Fox and ABC’s sitcom Spin City, Barry Bostwick has had an expansive a career spanning all genres and mediums of show business.
Barry made his Broadway debut with the APA Phoenix Repertory Company in the title role in Sean O’Casey’s Cock-A-Doodle-Dandy, and continued his theater success with Tony nominations for performances as the original Danny Zuko in the iconic Grease on Broadway, They Knew What They Wanted, and a win for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of The Robber Bridegroom, a role he originated at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
Barry was most recently seen in the feature films Single All the Way (Netflix), Outlaw Johnny Black (dir. Michael Jai White), Daruma, Love, Danielle, Undercover Brother 2, Granddaddy Daycare, and Santa Girl. He also had a cameo guest star in the reboot of the Disney+ series Doogie Kamealoha, MD, and in NBC’s Will & Grace. Barry recurred on CMT’S Still the King and Bravo’s The Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce and made appearances in ABC’s American Housewife, CBS’ The Great Indoors, IFC’s Gigi Does It and Childrens Hospital on Adult Swim. Other notable television appearances include guest star roles on CBS’ CSI, Fox’s New Girl, The Haunted Hathaways on Nickelodeon, Franklin & Bash on TNT, Showtime’s Masters of Sex, a 2-hour musical episode of USA’s Psych, the Fox hit Glee, as well as recurring roles on the Shonda Rhimes series Scandal, Cougar Town with Courtney Cox, and the ABC series Ugly Betty. Barry was the co-lead in the Hallmark movie Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Home Again; and starred as George Washington in the miniseries George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation, which was nominated for a couple of Emmy’s. Barry won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in the mini-series War and Remembrance.
Past film appearances include lead roles in films such as A Mermaid’s Tale, The Scorpion King: The Lost Throne, Blowing Vegas Off the Map, Finding Joy, FDR: American Badass, Home Run Showdown, the action/sci-fi cult favorite Megaforce, and many others.
Barry is also a successful voice actor, most recently lending his voice in Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2 and the animated feature Isla Monstro. He is well known for portraying Grandpa Clyde in Phineas and Ferb and Adult Terr (Narrator) in René Laloux’s Fantastic Planet. The animated film won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was a prime example of the 1970’s psychedelic style of cutout stop motion animation. Personal on-screen appearances include PBS Specials such as Ellis Island and Working; and hosting several years of A Capitol Fourth, the annual July 4th concert to celebrate America’s birthday.
