Barrie Chase

Barrie Chase started dancing at the age of 3 years old.  Chase had the opportunity to study with the great Russian dance teachers Adolf Bolm & Maria Bekefi.  She studied acting with Jeff Corey and started dancing professionally at the age of 17 for Roland Petit. She was in the chorus of many Hollywood musicals.  Chase had the good fortune to work for Jack Cole as a chorus “dance in” & assistant.

For 10 yrs Barrie Chase was Fred Astaire’s dance partner appearing in four NBC specials.  Chase was also featured in several of The Hollywood Palace variety shows.  She co-starred in a Bob Hope television special Think Pretty, with Fred Astaire.  She was also a guest dance star in Swedish, Italian & German television shows and appeared as a guest star in many US television dance & dramatic shows like Bonanza, Have Gun, Will Travel, Person to Person, What’s My Line, to name a few.

Chase had movie credits in featured parts in It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), Cape Fear (1962), White Christmas (1954), The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) and co-starred in The George Raft Story (1961) and Mardi Gras (1958).
