Ashley Swinnerton

Ashley Swinnerton is an archival researcher and consultant. She works with universities, production companies, and artists to source and clear footage for documentaries, process AV collections, and restructure databases. Previously, she worked in the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art, New York for more than a decade, where she managed the Celeste Bartos International Film Study Center and organized more than 1,600 research appointments. She also collaborated on dozens of gallery exhibitions, includingPrivate Lives Public Spaces, a 100-screen showcase of home movies and amateur films from 1907–1991, andMaking Faces: Images of Exploitation and Empowerment in Cinema, which explored Hollywood’s portrayals of “outsiders” via the film stills that studios sent to newspapers and magazines. Ashley has a master’s degree in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation from New York University and ten classic film tattoos. She hopes to one day own a pair of Judy Garland’s shoes.
