LIVE READ: I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE

“I know where to get our men—human men!” TCM Underground and SF Sketchfest premiere a unique take on a 1958 sci-fi classic, rooted in the days of live radio. Originally released on a double bill with The Blob, screenwriter Louis Vittes’s story tells of aliens who arrive on Earth to possess the bodies of humans and a young newlywed who realizes her husband may be one of them. Though other Cold War-era films tackled connubial incompatibility—see I Married a Communist (a.k.a. The Woman on Pier 13, 1949)—Paramount’s paranoic B-movie took the concept to a whole new level. Festival favorite Dana Gould (Stan Against Evil, The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation) and a troupe of actors and comics perform a live and lively stage reading of the film’s screenplay, set to music and sound effects performed by composer Eban Schletter.
