David S. Ward
David S. Ward graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California, with a BA in Political Science. He received his MFA from the UCLA Film School in 1970. He won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Sting (1973) and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Sleepless in Seattle (1993).
He has also written the screenplays for Steelyard Blues (1972), Cannery Row (1982), The Milagro Beanfield War (1988), Major League (1989), King Ralph (1991), The Program (1993), The Mask of Zorro (1998), Flyboys (2006), and I’ll Find You (2022). His directing credits include Cannery Row, Major League, King Ralph, The Program, Major League II (1994), and Down Periscope (1996).
