Danny Huston
Award-winning actor, writer, and director Danny Huston is known for his versatility and dramatic screen presence. Most recognized for his roles in films like Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator (2004), Alfonso Cuaron’s Children of Men (2006), and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s 21 Grams (2003), Huston has worked with some of the finest film directors of his generation.
Huston got his start directing Mr. North (1988) with Robert Mitchum, Anthony Edwards, and his sister, Anjelica Huston. He went on to give his breakthrough acting performance in the independent film Ivans xtc. (2000), for which he was nominated for Best Male Performance at the 2003 Independent Spirit Awards. Since then his film acting work has included X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (2010), Hitchcock (2012) with Anthony Hopkins, Wrath of the Titans (2012) with Liam Neeson, The Constant Gardener (2005) with Rachel Weisz and Ralph Fiennes, Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette (2006), John Sayles’s Silver City (2004), The Liberator (2013) with Edgar Ramirez, The Congress (2013) with Harvey Keitel, John Hillcoat’s The Proposition (2005) with Guy Pearce, Birth (2004) opposite Nicole Kidman, 30 Days of Night (2007) with Josh Hartnett, Peter Berg’s The Kingdom (2007), and many more.
In 2013, his critically acclaimed role of Ben the Butcher in Magic City (on Starz) earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television. His other television acting work includes the hit television series Masters of Sex (Showtime), a recurring role in the hugely popular American Horror Story (FX), and performances in You Don’t Know Jack (2010) with Al Pacino and John Adams (HBO).
Additional credits include Paranoid (2016) for Netflix and ITV Studios; Marc Forster’s All I See Is You (2016); Frankenstein (2015), directed by Bernard Rose; Pressure (2015), directed by Ron Scalpello; and Tim Burton’s Big Eyes (2014). Huston also directed himself in The Last Photograph (2017), which screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival.
In 2017 Huston portrayed Robert Evans in the stage adaptation of The Kid Stays in the Picture, directed by Simon McBurney, for the Royal Court Theatre in London. Huston went on to appear in the global box office hit Wonder Woman (2017), directed by Patty Jenkins.
Huston can be seen in Angel Has Fallen (2019) alongside Morgan Freeman and Gerard Butler, as well as the IM Global feature Richard Says Goodbye (a.k.a. The Professor, 2018) with Johnny Depp for writer-director Wayne Roberts. He also starred in the top grossing Game Night (2018) with Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. Huston starred in two seasons as Dan Jenkins on the Taylor Sheridan and Paramount TV series Yellowstone, the number one summer series of 2019. Simultaneously, Huston can also be seen in the critically acclaimed series Succession for HBO.
Huston went on to film Across the River and Into the Trees (2022) with Liev Schreiber; Tempête (2022), directed by Christian Duguay opposite Melanie Laurent; and Marlowe (2022), opposite Liam Neeson and directed by Neil Jordan.
Most recently, Huston finished production on Consecration (2023) with Jena Malone; the Italian film Te l’avevo detto with Valeria Golino; and The Crow, directed by Rupert Sanders. He was also in the Viggo Mortensen-directed The Dead Don’t Hurt. Danny is currently filming Horizon with Kevin Costner.
