RICHARD L. EDWARDS, PH.D.

Dr. Richard Edwards received his Ph.D. in Critical Studies from University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. He is the co-author of The Maltese Touch of Evil: Film Noir and Potential Criticism (Dartmouth College Press, 2011), as well the author of numerous film articles. With Shannon Clute, he hosted and produced the long-running film analysis podcast series, Out of the Past: Investigating Film Noir. He is the instructor of Turner Classic Movies’ free online film courses, TCM Presents Into the Darkness: Investigating Film Noir (2015) and TCM Presents Painfully Funny: Exploring Slapstick in the Movies (2016). Dr. Edwards currently works at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.
