LARA GABRIELLE FOWLER

Lara Gabrielle Fowler is a film writer and historian, currently writing the first full-length biography of Marion Davies in nearly 50 years. Her work on Davies has taken her to archival research centers all over the world, and she regularly gives lectures on Davies at film festivals, the Annenberg Community Beach House, Hearst Castle and UCLA. Fowler’s essay on When Knighthood Was in Flower (1922) accompanies the DVD of Ben Model’s new restoration of the film, and her notes on The Red Mill (1927) were featured at the Kennington Bioscope Silent Film Festival in London. Her article on Davies’ transition to sound will appear in the upcoming summer edition of The Missouri Review.
